Scheduling a utilization report in DPM 2010

My opinion is that it is a best practice to be automatically informed of your disk utilization for any Disk to Disk based data protection solution.  Apart from being on top of when you need more space, you can quickly see abnormal changes to data volumes.

For this quick DPM 2010 guide the prerequisites are to have configured your email server in the DPM management options.

Here are the steps:

1) Open the DPM 2010 Administrator Console and select Reporting

2) Select Disk Utilization then in Actions pane select Schedule

3) Select Run the Disk Utilization report according to the schedule options.  Complete your schedule requirements.  I have a weekly report that shows the whole year

4) Select the E-mail tab, enter your recipients (separated with a semi-colon) and select OK

Subject to your report parameters you should see a list of the protected resources, a Storage Pool Summary chart then a break down of you protected computers.

You can also scheduled other reports such as Status, Recovery, Recovery Point Status, Tape Management and Tape Utilization
